The fire at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was not an act of sabotage, stated Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam of the Chief Advisor. He confirmed that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit.
At a press conference held Tuesday at the Foreign Service Academy, he said the incident was not sabotage. The fire started in the area between cages of several courier agencies due to the short circuit. This was confirmed by a team of experts from Turkey, BUET specialists, fire safety experts, and CID forensic investigators.
Earlier today, the Chief Advisor received the investigation report on the fire at the airport cargo terminal. Law Advisor Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul was present at the press briefing.
The Law Advisor also stated that the advisory council today approved the Referendum Ordinance. To facilitate voters, the referendum ballot papers will be of a different colour. The returning officers, assistant returning officers, presiding officers, and polling officers appointed for the parliamentary election will also oversee the referendum.
