A local student wing leader in Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria, faces allegations of attempting to abduct a female schoolteacher at gunpoint in broad daylight. Delwar Hossain Jinnah, 35, president of the Kasba West Union Chhatra Dal, was named as the primary accused in a formal complaint lodged by the victim at Kasba Police Station late on Monday night, 28 September.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Akchina village under Kasba West Union, where both the complainant and the accused reside. The victim serves as an educator at Akchina-Kullabari Modern School.
According to the official complaint, the teacher was walking home after classes when Jinnah intercepted her path. When she refused to engage in conversation regarding personal matters, Jinnah allegedly pulled out a black pistol, threatened her life, and forced her into an auto-rickshaw (CNG).
An unidentified accomplice seated inside the vehicle covered the woman’s mouth and held a sharp knife to her throat, threatening execution if she raised an alarm. Fearing for her life as the vehicle sped towards the Kullabari Jora Bridge area, the teacher took a desperate leap from the moving auto-rickshaw. Hearing her screams, local residents rushed to her aid, rescuing her from the roadside and confronting the situation.
Dismissing the abduction allegations over the phone, Jinnah claimed he had been in a personal relationship with the teacher for about a month. He stated that an argument had erupted between them due to disagreements and insisted that he had merely taken her for a drive in the auto-rickshaw to cool her temper. He maintained that the charges were fabricated by political rivals to tarnish his reputation.
Rebutting his statement, the victim strongly denied any romantic association, describing his claims as entirely baseless and slanderous. She reiterated that Jinnah intercepted her while she was heading home and abducted her at gunpoint. Expressing grave concerns for her personal safety and that of her family, she appealed to local administrative authorities and elected representatives for immediate legal protection and justice.
Khandakar Omar Farooq, chairman of the school’s governing body, confirmed that a complaint had been lodged with law enforcement and stated that the school committee would collaborate with local residents to pursue strict legal action. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kasba Police Station, Ali Mohammad Rashed, confirmed receipt of the written complaint, adding that an investigation is currently underway to apprehend those involved.
