Actress Tanjin Tisha is facing another legal case over allegations that she threatened a complainant to withdraw an earlier case linked to a Tk 75,000 saree dispute. The court has directed the actress to appear on 23 November and explain her position in response to the latest allegations.
The case was filed on Monday (26 October) before the court of Executive Magistrate Md Mahbub-ul-Alam in Dhaka by fashion designer Sanaya Anam Wafikah Chowdhury, editor of Velvet-Youth Magazine. After recording the complainant’s statement, the court instructed Tisha to appear on the scheduled date and show cause.
According to the complaint, Chowdhury filed an earlier case against Tisha on 27 November 2025 at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, accusing the actress of fraud and misappropriation of money. The case was brought under Sections 420 and 406 of the Penal Code. Chowdhury alleges that Tisha subsequently threatened her on several occasions and intimidated her in an attempt to have the earlier case withdrawn.
Actress questions alleged campaign against her
As the legal dispute continues to attract attention, Tisha has publicly expressed her frustration over the allegations. In a Facebook post published late on Monday night, the actress questioned why anyone would seek to destroy her professional reputation, career and achievements built over many years.
“Such a huge plan? Such a despicable attempt to destroy a person’s reputation, career and achievements built over so many years. Why? For what reason? And who is behind it?” she wrote.
Tisha also questioned the involvement of two sisters in the dispute, suggesting that their actions had contributed to what she described as an attempt to damage her reputation.
The actress alleged that portions of a recorded statement had been selectively edited to change the meaning of her original words and construct a different narrative. She further claimed that the resulting version had been circulated on social media, harming her public image.
Her comments reflect her concern about the way allegations and disputed recordings can influence public perceptions before a legal process has reached a conclusion.
Tisha says she has evidence to support her position
In the same post, Tisha said she possessed information and evidence that could provide answers to several questions surrounding the dispute. However, she questioned how that material should be presented to the public and whether the responsibility lay with the courts or responsible journalism.
She also challenged the assumption that an allegation automatically establishes guilt, expressing concern about the repeated circulation of accusations against an individual on social media.
The actress questioned how she could obtain justice if claims she considers false were repeatedly shared online with the intention of damaging her reputation. She did not, in the quoted statement, publicly detail all the evidence she said she possessed.
Complainant alleges threats over the earlier case
The latest complaint also refers to an alleged telephone conversation on 7 November 2025. According to Chowdhury, Tisha threatened her during the call, saying, “If I come after you, you will not survive.”
The complainant further alleges that the actress spoke about arranging a meeting involving the Detective Branch (DB) of police. These claims form part of the allegations presented in the latest case and have not been established as facts by a final judicial finding.
Chowdhury has also raised objections to the investigation into her earlier complaint. She claims that after the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case, the investigating officer submitted a biased report.
On 25 October 2026, she filed a no-confidence petition challenging that report, according to the complaint.
Legal dispute remains unresolved
The dispute, which centres on a saree reportedly worth Tk 75,000, has developed into a wider legal controversy involving allegations of fraud, financial misconduct, threats and reputational damage.
While Chowdhury has accused Tisha of threatening her over the earlier case, the actress has questioned the motives behind the allegations and claimed that efforts are being made to undermine her career and public standing.
The two sides have presented conflicting accounts, and the allegations remain subject to legal scrutiny. The court’s direction for Tisha to appear on 23 November is a procedural step that will allow her to respond to the latest complaint; it should not be interpreted as a determination of guilt.
The outcome will depend on the legal proceedings and the evidence considered by the court. Until the allegations are established through the judicial process, claims made by either side should be treated as allegations rather than proven facts.
