Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim has been shortlisted for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Player of the Month award for July, following a series of stellar performances on international duty. Joining him on the three-man shortlist are England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook and West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves.
Tanzid earned his nomination through remarkable consistency during Bangladesh’s recent tour of Zimbabwe. The young left-handed opener finished as the highest run-scorer for his side across both the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series. In the three-match ODI leg, he accumulated 159 runs at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 89.83, though Bangladesh ultimately suffered a 2–1 series defeat.
He maintained his rich vein of form in the subsequent T20I series, scoring 140 runs across three matches at an impressive average of 70 and a strike rate of 127.27. His contributions at the top of the order proved pivotal in anchoring the innings and steering Bangladesh to a 2–1 series victory in the shortest format.
Harry Brook made the shortlist after delivering a destructive batting display during England’s home series against India. Whilst his output in the three ODIs remained modest at 31 runs, Brook dominated the five-match T20I series. He smashed 229 runs at an astonishing average of 114.50 and a blistering strike rate of 214.01, securing the Player of the Series award as England swept India 4–0.
West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves presented a compelling case with dominant all-round performances across formats. Greaves struck a splendid 180 in a Test against Sri Lanka, helping secure a draw that sealed a 1–0 series victory for the Caribbean side. He followed this by taking seven wickets in the Tarouba Test against Pakistan, bringing his tally to 215 runs and eight wickets across two Test matches in July, alongside 32 runs in two ODIs.
The ICC also announced the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for July. West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews, Sri Lankan top-order batter Harshitha Samarawickrama, and England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt will compete for the women’s honour. The winners will be decided through a combined voting process involving the ICC Voting Academy and global cricket fans.
