Dozens of people were injured on Sunday evening, including 11 who were taken to hospital, following a train collision in western Slovakia, the government confirmed.
The two trains were carrying approximately 800 passengers when the incident occurred about 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of the capital, Bratislava, on the route between Svaty Jur and Pezinok, officials reported.
Speaking at the scene of the accident, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok stated that while most of the injuries were relatively minor, 11 individuals were transported to hospital in Bratislava for further treatment.
The collision involved two trains: the Tatran Express, which operates between Kosice and Bratislava, and a regional express service travelling between Nitra and the capital.
