Two Arrested Following Gang Rapes Reported in Sylhet and Nilphamari

Police have launched investigations into two separate gang rape incidents in Gowainghat, Sylhet, and Domar, Nilphamari, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The assaults, involving a woman whose husband is currently incarcerated and a twenty-year-old disabled woman, have prompted swift action from local law enforcement following emergency calls.
In Gowainghat, the victim filed a complaint naming four individuals after being lured to an abandoned house in Nagar Dengri village on Thursday afternoon. According to police records, one suspect, Nehal Ahmad, locked the door and sexually assaulted her before letting three accomplices—Md. Masuk Ahmad, 38, Juber Ahmad, 35, and Md. Nijam Uddin, 36—into the room. The men, who are associates of the victim’s husband, subjected her to a repeated attack whilst recording the ordeal on a mobile phone.
Following the assault, the victim managed to contact the national emergency service number 999. Gowainghat police responded immediately, conducting a raid that resulted in the arrests of Nehal and Masuk. Officer-in-Charge Md. Omar Farooq Morol confirmed that a case has been registered and operations are under way to apprehend the remaining two suspects. Reports across national dailies, Tell our representative, highlighted the rapid police intervention following the emergency alert.
Meanwhile, a separate incident was reported late on Thursday night in Domar, Nilphamari, where a disabled young woman was attacked inside her home. The accused, Arman Hossain, 26, and his fifteen-year-old associate Laju, both construction workers based in Dhaka, had reportedly boarded a Dhaka-bound train earlier that evening before disembarking surreptitiously.
The victim’s family stated that the suspects cut through the bamboo fencing of the residence at approximately 12:30 AM to gain entry. After assaulting the young woman, the perpetrators fled through the damaged fence when her screams alerted relatives. Officers from the Chilahati police outpost retrieved evidence from the crime scene, including bags left behind by the suspects, and escorted the victim for medical examination. Domar Police Officer-in-Charge Habibullah confirmed that a criminal case has been lodged by the victim’s brother, with police actively searching for the absconding suspects.
