Two More Die from Dengue, 1,179 Hospitalised

In the past 24 hours, two more people have died from dengue fever, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, across the country. During this period, 1,179 individuals have been hospitalised.

This brings the total number of deaths from dengue this year to 315, with the number of diagnosed cases rising to 79,722.

This information was provided in a regular press release on dengue issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday, 10 November.

According to the health department, the 1,179 new dengue patients hospitalised in the past 24 hours were from various divisions. Of these, 169 were from the Barishal Division, 151 from Chattogram, 239 from Dhaka Division, 172 from the North Dhaka City Corporation, 157 from the South Dhaka City Corporation, 70 from Khulna Division, 89 from Mymensingh, 109 from Rajshahi, 12 from Rangpur, and 8 from Sylhet.

Both of the deaths occurred in the South Dhaka City Corporation. During this time, 1,116 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. This brings the total number of recoveries for the year to 76,009.

In 2024, a total of 101,214 cases of dengue were reported, resulting in 575 deaths. In the previous year, 2023, the number of deaths due to dengue reached a record high of 1,705, while 321,179 people were hospitalised due to the disease.
