Manikganj, situated in central Bangladesh, serves as a significant transit point due to its proximity to the capital and its transport links. Consequently, law enforcement agencies, particularly the Detective Branch, have intensified their surveillance and operations to curb the flow of illegal drugs such as heroin and Yaba (a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine) into the district.
The police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a “zero-tolerance” policy regarding narcotics. Investigative procedures are currently ongoing to determine if these suspects are linked to a wider smuggling syndicate operating within the Dhaka Division. The seized evidence has been documented, and the suspects are expected to be produced before the court to face judicial proceedings in accordance with national law.
