Villagers reported noticing an object floating in the current shortly before noon. Upon approaching the riverbank, they confirmed it was a human body and promptly alerted law enforcement authorities. While physical features indicated that the deceased was a woman, her identity could not be established immediately due to a lack of documentation or belongings on her person.

The incident has sparked widespread speculation among local residents regarding the circumstances surrounding her death. It remains unclear whether the woman fell victim to foul play elsewhere before being dumped in the river, or if her death was the result of a drowning accident. Concerned members of the community have urged the police to identify the victim swiftly, ascertain the exact cause of death, and hold any responsible parties accountable under the law.

Officers from Manikganj Sadar Police Station arrived shortly after receiving the call to retrieve the body from the water. Police investigators conducted an initial inquest on-site, recording physical descriptions and preliminary observations before transporting the deceased to Manikganj Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The Officer-in-Charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the sequence of events, stating that law enforcement responded immediately upon receiving information from local residents. Officers prepared the formal inquest report and dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to clarify whether homicide or accidental drowning was involved. Police teams have also initiated cross-checks with neighbouring police stations and deployed fingerprint matching techniques to determine the woman’s identity.
