Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets World Record as Youngest Player of the Series

India’s prodigiously talented batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to make headlines in international cricket, becoming the youngest player in history to win a Player of the Series award. The 15-year-old sensation came agonizingly close to breaking the record for the youngest centurion in international cricket on Sunday, only to be denied by a brilliant catch from Brad Evans. Despite missing out on that individual milestone, Suryavanshi capped off the three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe by securing another unprecedented world record.

At just 15 years and 121 days old, Suryavanshi was named Player of the Series following a dazzling display with the bat. Across the three matches, the young left-hander finished as the top run-scorer, accumulating 151 runs off just 77 deliveries. His explosive campaign included two half-centuries, demonstrating remarkable composure and an aggressive stroke-play that systematically dismantled the opposition bowling attack.

This award eclipse the previous world record held by Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. In 2018, Mujeeb claimed the Player of the Series award in a One Day International series against Zimbabwe at the age of 16 years and 325 days. Suryavanshi, already the youngest player to score a half-century in international cricket, managed to surpass Mujeeb’s mark in only his second series wearing Indian colours.

Despite having played just six international matches in his career, Suryavanshi has already established two major world records. In the opening match of the series, he set the record for the youngest player to register an international half-century. His sustained form throughout the three fixtures highlighted his tactical maturity and raw hitting ability, earning widespread acclaim across the cricketing landscape.
