In a symbolic demonstration marking the resumption of party activities after a prolonged hiatus, several leaders of the Jubo Mohila League gathered outside the political office of the ruling party president in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The event, taking place nearly one and a half years after a period of political inactivity, has sparked local curiosity and discussion.
At around 8:30 am on Friday, approximately 10 to 12 league leaders, led by the organisation’s Joint General Secretary M. B. Kaniz, assembled in front of the gate of 51 Dhanmondi 3/A Road. The participants unfurled the national flag and displayed a large portrait of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, while chanting slogans promoting party unity, democracy, and the revitalisation of organisational activity. The leaders emphasised the importance of grassroots engagement to uphold the party’s traditions and ideological values.
The building at Dhanmondi 3/A has served as the political office of the party president since 2002. Initially leased under a rental agreement, the property was formally acquired by the party in 2009 after assuming state power. Over the years, the office has been the site of key organisational decisions, election preparations, and central-level meetings, playing a pivotal role in the party’s operational framework.
According to the league leaders, the recent political shifts had caused a temporary slowdown in party activity. This slogan campaign was intended as a symbolic gesture to reinvigorate political engagement at the grassroots level and signal a renewed commitment to party ideals.
Local residents reported that the morning slogans briefly drew attention in the neighbourhood, though no disturbances occurred. Law enforcement sources confirmed that the area was monitored for security purposes, and the event proceeded without incident.
Analysts suggest that such symbolic initiatives around party headquarters may indicate a forthcoming increase in organisational activity. While no formal response has been issued by the central leadership, the event is being interpreted as a grassroots effort to assert presence and mobilise local supporters.
