Police have recovered the body of a young man, Suman Khalifa (32), after he was killed following his departure from a music event in Fatullah, Narayanganj. His body was found on Monday (1 December) morning by the roadside next to an abandoned house in the Middle Narsinghpur area. Police suspect that he was hacked to death with sharp weapons.
Suman, originally from Agoiljhara in Barishal, had attended a music programme in the Panchabati area with his wife, singer Sonia Akter (28), on Sunday night. At one point he stepped outside and did not return. After an extensive search, Sonia eventually learned of his death on Monday morning.
Additional Superintendent of Police (K-Circle) Hasinuzzaman said that the body had been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for post-mortem. Police are working to determine the reason behind the killing and identify those involved.
