Zubaida Rahman Arrives at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka

Dr Zubaida Rahman, the wife of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has arrived at Evercare Hospital in the capital. She reached the hospital at 11:54am on Friday.

Earlier, at around 10:45am, the aircraft carrying her landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. On Thursday (4 December) afternoon, Dr Zubaida Rahman departed for Bangladesh from London Heathrow Airport on a flight.

At the airport, she was received by UK-based physician Richard Bailey, her elder sister Shahina Khan Zaman, Shahina’s husband retired Air Commodore Syed Shafiujjaman, and media cell member Atikur Rahman Ruman.

Also present were the BNP Chairperson’s personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, the Chairperson’s chief security coordinator Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Sharmin Akhtar, retired Major Moinul Hossain and retired Captain Ganiul Azam.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that due to the failure of Qatar’s Amir’s special air ambulance to arrive on time, the plan to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London has been delayed. He stated, “The air ambulance is not coming on Friday due to technical issues. If everything goes well, it may arrive on Saturday. If Madam’s health permits travel and the medical board approves, then Insha’Allah she will fly next Sunday.”

Late on Thursday night, at around 12am, the BNP Chairperson’s personal physician Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said that Begum Khaleda Zia was being kept under close monitoring at the Critical Care Unit.

Earlier this year, on 7 January, she was taken to London on an air ambulance provided by Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for advanced medical treatment. She received care at London Clinic. After four months of treatment, she returned to Bangladesh on 5 May on the same air ambulance. At that time, her daughter-in-law Dr Zubaida Rahman accompanied her.

BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman moved to London in 2008 after being released from prison for medical treatment, accompanied by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman. After returning to Bangladesh for a month, he flew back to London on 5 June.
