Ibrahim Hossain Joins BIA as Senior Consultant

In a significant move for the domestic insurance sector, S.M. Ibrahim Hossain, a highly distinguished Chartered Insurer, has officially joined the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) as a Senior Consultant. This strategic appointment is expected to bolster the BIA’s capacity for policy advocacy and professional development at a time when the industry is seeking deeper integration with international standards.

A Career Defined by Excellence

Mr Hossain transitions to the BIA following a stellar career spanning nearly three decades. He previously dedicated 29 years to the Bangladesh Insurance Academy, where he rose to the position of Acting Director. During his tenure at the Academy, he was instrumental in shaping the educational landscape for thousands of insurance professionals, overseeing critical training initiatives and technical skill development.

A statistician by training, Mr Hossain holds both a BSc (Hons) and an MSc in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University. His professional qualifications are equally formidable:

Chartered Insurer (ACII): Accredited by the prestigious Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.

Graduate Diploma: Obtained from the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII).

Beyond the classroom and the training hall, Mr Hossain has been a pivotal figure in the governance of Bangladesh’s primary insurance bodies. He has the rare distinction of having served on the Board of Directors for both the Shadharan Bima Corporation (General Insurance) and the Jiban Bima Corporation (Life Insurance).
