Bayern Munich Beat Dortmund to Secure Twelfth German Supercup Title

Bayern Munich launched their campaign on a triumphant note on Saturday evening, defeating fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund 2–1 at the Signal Iduna Park to claim the season’s opening silverware. The victory marks the Bavarian giants’ twelfth German Supercup trophy, reinforcing their dominance in domestic competition ahead of the new league season under manager Vincent Kompany.
Bayern took early command of the match, exploiting defensive vulnerabilities in the host side’s backline. In the 28th minute, Nathaniel Brown seized on a failed clearance by the Dortmund defence inside the penalty area, firing a clinical strike into the back of the net to put the visitors ahead. Dortmund appeared to have found an equaliser in the 42nd minute when they turned the ball into the net, but the goal was promptly chalked off following an offside ruling.
Right before the half-time whistle, French winger Michael Olise doubled Bayern’s lead in stoppage time. Showcasing exceptional individual skill, Olise dribbled past two Dortmund defenders before placing a composed finish beyond the goalkeeper to send Bayern into the break with a two-goal cushion.
Dortmund emerged after the interval with renewed urgency, mounting sustained pressure to claw their way back into the contest. Their efforts paid off in the 75th minute when Fábio Silva converted a well-worked attack to reduce the deficit to 2–1. The home side launched a relentless wave of attacks during the final fifteen minutes in search of a late equaliser, but Bayern’s defensive unit held firm under pressure to preserve the lead until the final whistle.
The fixture also marked a memorable debut for Moroccan international Ismael Saibari, who joined Bayern Munich in July. Starting on the bench, Saibari was introduced in the 81st minute as a substitute for goalscorer Nathaniel Brown, celebrating his competitive debut for the club with a winner’s medal.
With the first trophy of the campaign secured, Vincent Kompany’s squad will shift their attention to the domestic league defence, where they are scheduled to open their Bundesliga title campaign against VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening.
