A large-scale operation in the Tampoi Indah area of Johor, Malaysia led to the arrest of 92 undocumented migrants by the Immigration Department. The operation began early on Friday (28 November) under the leadership of Johor Immigration Director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus.
He stated that from 4 a.m., five coordinated operations—Ops Selera, Ops Mari, Ops Sapu, Ops Belanja and Ops Pintu—were conducted simultaneously. The raids targeted business establishments and residential areas where illegal migrant workers were reportedly employed or sheltered.
In a statement on Sunday (30 November), the director said that based on intelligence and public information, raids were carried out at garment factories, beauty service centres, restaurants and other locations.
Among the 92 detainees were 19 men and 4 women from Indonesia, 7 men and 2 women from Sri Lanka, 19 men and 9 women from Myanmar, 8 men from Bangladesh, 2 men from Pakistan, 1 woman from China and 1 woman from the Philippines. Additionally, 15 men and 5 women of other nationalities were detained. Their ages range from 19 to 57.
The director said the detainees violated immigration laws, including working without valid permits and breaching conditions of visit or work passes—offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
They have been taken to the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for questioning, and investigations are ongoing.
