Gold prices have fallen in the domestic market after two successive increases totalling Tk 5,552. On Saturday, 27 September, the price of the highest quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) was reduced by Tk 1,890.
From Sunday, 28 September, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold is Tk 1,94,969. The decision to reduce prices was made at a meeting of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, and subsequently announced through a notification signed by the committee chairman Masudur Rahman. The reduction follows a decline in the price of pure (tejabi) gold in local markets.
| Carat | Weight | New Price (per bhori) |
| 22-carat | 11.664 g | Tk 1,94,969 |
| 21-carat | 11.664 g | Tk 1,86,006 |
| 18-carat | 11.664 g | Tk 1,59,424 |
| Traditional method | 11.664 g | Tk 1,32,351 |
According to Bajus, the government-mandated 5% VAT and minimum labour cost of 6% set by Bajus must be added to the selling price. However, the labour charge may vary depending on the design and quality of jewellery.
Previously, on Monday, 22 September, gold prices were increased, breaking all previous records. The price of 22-carat gold per bhori rose by Tk 1,889, bringing the cost to Tk 1,91,196 per bhori.
This adjustment reflects the ongoing fluctuations in the domestic gold market, balancing both market demand and official pricing regulations.
