Iran Executes Alleged Top Israeli Spy

Iran announced on Monday that it had executed a man it described as one of Israel’s top spies after convicting him of collaborating with its arch-enemy.

Execution Details

  • Name: Bahman Choubi Asl
  • Method: Hanging
  • Source: Reported by Iran’s judiciary via Mizan Online
  • Charges: Convicted of working closely with Israeli intelligence (Mossad)

The judiciary stated that Choubi Asl had “privileged access to vital and sovereign databases” in Iran, though it did not disclose when he was arrested.

Iran and Israel engaged in a 12-day conflict in June, following Israeli air strikes targeting military, government, and nuclear facilities in Iran.

  • Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory.
  • The country does not officially recognise Israel.

During the strikes, senior Iranian officers, nuclear scientists, and hundreds of others—including civilians—were killed.

Since the June hostilities, Iranian authorities have vowed swift trials for suspected collaborators. Actions taken include:

Date Action Details
August 2025 Investigation opened 20 people arrested for alleged links with Israel
Early August Execution Roozbeh Vadi executed for allegedly passing information on a nuclear scientist killed in the conflict
Monday Execution Bahman Choubi Asl hanged as a top Israeli spy

Iran has publicly accused several individuals of working for Mossad, highlighting their intent to safeguard national security and punish espionage.

The execution signals Iran’s heightened security measures following the June conflict and its ongoing hostility toward Israel.

Authorities continue to emphasise that anyone suspected of espionage or collaboration will face immediate investigation and severe punishment.

This latest action underscores the intense tensions between Iran and Israel in the wake of the unprecedented air strikes and retaliatory attacks earlier this year.
