Argentina are set to participate in two preparatory friendly matches in the United States later this month, facing Venezuela and Puerto Rico on 10 and 13 October, respectively. In preparation for these fixtures, head coach Lionel Scaloni on Friday (3 October) revealed a 28-man squad.
Regular captain Lionel Messi retains his place, while Enzo Fernández returns following the completion of a two-match suspension. Notably, the squad features three newcomers, reflecting Argentina’s forward-looking approach ahead of the World Cup main stage.
The squad includes midfielder Aníbal Moreno, defender Lautaro Rivero, and goalkeeper Facundo Cambeses, all called up to the national team for the first time.
Additionally, Marcos Senesi makes a return after a lengthy absence. The 28-year-old defender last appeared for Argentina in June 2022, marking a long-awaited comeback.
Aníbal Moreno, currently playing for Palmeiras in Brazil, earned his first national team call-up following impressive performances in midfield for the club.
