On 5 October, in observance of World Teachers’ Day, the Bangladesh Government Secondary Teachers’ Association (BASMASIS) organised a “Discussion Meeting with Stakeholders” at Khilgaon Government High School, Dhaka. The meeting focused on the five ongoing demands of secondary school teachers, with particular emphasis on the establishment of an Independent Secondary Education Directorate and the implementation of the 9th grade in the entry pay scale.

Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman emphasised: “Secondary school teachers are all highly educated. Therefore, upgrading them to the 9th grade in the entry pay scale and implementing the four-tier career ladder is extremely urgent. If this fair demand is not met, talented individuals will lose interest in this profession.”
