Former Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim, who rose to fame with Aamir Khan’s blockbuster Dangal, has once again captured public attention — this time not for a film, but for her sudden marriage announcement.

Zaira, who left the film industry five years ago citing religious reasons, revealed on Friday night that she had tied the knot in a private ceremony. The revelation surprised fans and industry peers alike, as she chose not to disclose the identity of her groom, sparking widespread curiosity and online discussions.

The former actress shared two photographs on her social media account. In one, she is seen dressed in a traditional red bridal outfit, while her groom wears a cream-coloured Kashmiri shawl. The serene moonlit background gave the pictures an almost poetic charm, symbolising the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Another photograph shows Zaira signing her Nikah Nama (marriage certificate) with henna-adorned hands. The caption simply read “Qubool Hai” (I accept) — a phrase that officially seals the Islamic marriage ceremony.

Zaira Wasim made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with Dangal, for which she received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her remarkable portrayal of the young Geeta Phogat instantly made her one of the most promising talents in the industry.

She further cemented her reputation with Secret Superstar (2017), another critically acclaimed film produced by Aamir Khan.

However, in 2019, Zaira announced her decision to quit acting, stating that her career in films was “interfering with her faith.” Since then, she has maintained a low profile, occasionally appearing in public wearing a hijab and burqa, which also attracted criticism and trolling online.
