In Brahmanbaria, a clash between two groups left 65-year-old Nasir Uddin dead. The incident occurred on Saturday morning (25 October) in Birampur village of Sadekpur Union, Sadar Upazila.
The deceased, Nasir Uddin, was the son of the late Moiz Uddin of the same village. At least 30 people from both sides were injured during the clash.
According to police, a long-standing conflict had existed between the village’s former chairman Harun Mia and the Sachchu group over dominance in the area. On Saturday morning, members of both sides engaged in a confrontation armed with locally made weapons. During the roughly three-hour-long clash, Nasir Uddin of the Sachchu group was fatally injured by the opposing side.
Confirming the incident, Azharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, said that police rushed to the scene to control the situation. To prevent further clashes, additional police forces have been deployed in the area. The deceased’s body has been sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
