In Tetulia Upazila of Panchagarh, a schoolboy died after receiving an electric shock while repairing a light connection at his uncle’s house. The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Chutchutia Gach area of Tironihat Union.
The deceased boy, Asif Rana (15), was the son of Nur Jamal from the same area and a ninth-grade student at Shalbahar High School.
According to family members, quoted by Jahangir Alam, the Ward Member of Tironihat Union Parishad’s 5th Ward, the light holder in the kitchen of Asif’s uncle, Abdur Razzak, had a broken connection. After Maghrib prayers, Asif attempted to repair the connection. Suddenly, he received an electric shock and became unconscious. With the help of a few local residents, his family rushed him to Tetulia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Musa Mia, Officer-in-Charge of Tetulia Model Police Station, said an unnatural death case has been filed at the police station. After completing the initial postmortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family following legal procedures.
