A fire broke out in the jute warehouse of Md. Sarwar Hossain, the acting convener of the Sripur Upazila Jubo Dal in Gazipur. The blaze destroyed various unused factory products, different types of cloth, and jute materials stored in the warehouse.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (18 November) at around 12:30 am in Bakultola, on the Maona-Sripur regional road near Nakib Spinning Mill.
According to eyewitnesses, Warehouse Inspector Md. Mahmudul Hasan of Sripur Fire Service and Civil Defence said, “Upon receiving the report around midnight, locals initially tried to control the fire. Later, two units from Sripur Fire Service arrived. As the fire intensified, two more units from Rajendrapur Modern Fire Service joined the effort. All the jute materials were destroyed, and three cows inside the warehouse perished.”
Warehouse owner and Jubo Dal leader Sarwar Hossain said, “Over 100 tons of jute products were stored in the warehouse. The cause of the fire is not yet confirmed. The entire large shed has collapsed.”
Gazipur Fire Service’s Deputy Assistant Director Mamun added, “Upon receiving the report at 12:50 am, four fire units brought the fire under control by 3:00 am. There were large stacks of cloth inside. So far, no casualties or missing persons have been reported. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage will be announced after investigation.”
