Five Die of Dengue and Measles Symptoms in Chattogram

Chattogram is facing an escalating public health crisis following the deaths of five people—including three young children—from dengue fever and suspected measles within a 24-hour window. The fatalities were recorded between 8:00 am on Tuesday and 8:00 am on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Chattogram District Civil Surgeon’s Office.

Health officials reported that dengue claimed three lives during this timeframe. The deceased include a two-year-and-five-month-old toddler from Sitakunda upazila, alongside two women aged 42 and 51, hailing from Sitakunda and Satkania upazilas respectively. Concurrently, two young children undergoing treatment for measles symptoms succumbed to their illness. One victim was a four-month-old infant from Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar, whilst the other was a five-and-a-half-year-old child residing in the Double Mooring area of the port city.
