Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on a state visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two-day visit is scheduled for 4–5 December in New Delhi, with the primary purpose of discussing bilateral relations and pressing international issues.
On Friday, 28 November, both the Kremlin and India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the details of the visit in an official statement. According to the statement, President Putin will hold formal meetings with Prime Minister Modi and will also meet separately with President Droupadi Murmu.
The visit will include the signing of several intergovernmental and commercial agreements, although the details of these documents have not been disclosed. The statement emphasised that the trip is of significant importance for both nations.
The discussions are expected to cover a broad agenda, including political, economic, trade, scientific, technological, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. In addition, the two countries are likely to review and strengthen their “special strategic partnership,” a cornerstone of Indo-Russian relations.
Observers note that this visit follows Putin’s previous visit to India in December 2021, just months before Russia’s military deployment in Ukraine in February 2022. Analysts suggest that the upcoming visit could reinforce bilateral cooperation, provide opportunities for dialogue on international issues, and further solidify strategic ties between the two nations, especially in an increasingly complex global environment.
