Madrasa student dies while offering Tahajjud prayer

A madrasa student named Akram Hossain (12) died while performing the Tahajjud prayer in Chatkhil of Noakhali. The incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Friday (28 November) at the Hifz section of Bishnupur Nurani Hafizia Madrasa under Noakhola Union.

The madrasa’s head teacher, Hafez Mohin Uddin, confirmed the matter on Saturday evening. He said Akram, son of Faruk Hossain from Komolnagar in Lakshmipur, was a student of the Hifz department and had already memorised 16 paras of the Qur’an.

According to him, Akram stood for Tahajjud prayer with other students as usual around 4:15 a.m. on Friday night. While praying, he suddenly fell ill and collapsed in the arms of another student. He died on the way to the Upazila Health Complex.

After the funeral prayer at the madrasa premises on Saturday morning, he was buried in his family graveyard.

Chatkhil Police Station’s investigation officer, Md Abdus Sultan, said that a video of the incident had been seen on social media, but no complaint had been filed.
