Khaleda Zia Likely to Fly to London on Sunday if Health Permits

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be travelling to London today, Friday. If her physical condition remains stable and the medical board approves, she is expected to depart for London on Sunday.

The process of flying her to London has been delayed as the air ambulance sent by the Amir of Qatar has not arrived due to a technical fault.

BNP’s media cell shared this information on their verified Facebook page at 10 am today.

In a Facebook statement, BNP said the special air ambulance sent by the Amir of Qatar had yet to reach Dhaka, causing a delay in the plan to take the BNP Chairperson to London.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated on the page that the air ambulance would not arrive on Friday owing to technical issues. He added that it could reach on Saturday if all goes well. He further said, ‘If Madam’s physical condition is suitable for travel and the medical board decides accordingly, she will depart for London on the 7th (Sunday), Insha’Allah.’

Discussion about sending the critically ill Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced treatment has been ongoing for several days. She was initially scheduled to fly today.

Speaking to a গণমাধ্যম correspondent at around 8:30 pm yesterday, Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Madam’s (Khaleda Zia’s) physical condition is unchanged. She remains in the same state as before.’

Meanwhile, her elder son Tarique Rahman’s wife, Zubaida Rahman, has arrived in Dhaka to accompany her mother-in-law to London for treatment.

Khaleda Zia, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister, has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital for 13 days. Her critical condition has caused concern among people across the country.

Earlier this year, in January, she travelled to London for advanced treatment. She received medical care at a hospital before staying at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence. After nearly four months, she returned to the country on 6 May. Even after returning, she continued receiving treatment at home and in hospital.
