Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh – A 35-year-old man has been sent to jail for posting offensive comments on social media following the death of Osman Hadi, the convenor of Inquilab Manch. The arrest highlights growing tensions over the deceased leader’s passing and the sensitive reaction of local communities.
Yasin Bhuiya, a resident of Maizkhar village in Kuti Union and son of Babru Bhuiya, was taken into custody on Friday afternoon from the Kuti area of Kasba Upazila. Following his arrest, he was sent to jail on Saturday under court orders.
According to police and local sources, Yasin had posted “Alhamdulillah” on Facebook after Osman Hadi’s death on Thursday, coupled with a derogatory comment labelling him a “terrorist.” The posts quickly provoked anger among residents, who described the messages as offensive and inflammatory.
