BTS Confirm March Return Following Military Service Completion

The global music landscape is abuzz with anticipation as the world’s most prominent K-pop act, BTS, prepares to break their hiatus. After years of individual ventures and mandatory national duties, the septet—comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—has officially confirmed a collective return to the spotlight. The group announced during a recent livestream that they have successfully completed recording for a highly anticipated new studio album, slated for release in March 2026.

This comeback marks a historic milestone for the band, as it represents their first unified project since all seven members concluded their compulsory military training. Following the discharge of the final members in June 2025, fans (collectively known as ARMY) have been meticulously counting the days until a formal reunion. While the members expressed an overwhelming eagerness to resume regular activities, they remained somewhat elusive regarding why they had not been more publicly active immediately following their summer discharge, opting instead to focus on the intensive recording process.

Strategic Release Schedule for HYBE Artists

The return of BTS has caused a significant ripple effect across the South Korean music industry, forcing major labels—particularly their parent company, HYBE—to reorganise their release calendars to avoid overlapping with the “BTS effect.”

The group’s leader, RM, revealed that he has formally requested HYBE to provide an official, detailed timeline for their return to ensure transparency with their global audience. Although the label has yet to release the granular specifics of the promotional tour, the confirmation of the finished recording has provided a much-needed sense of closure to the group’s hiatus.

To tide fans over, the group recently released their first live album, Permission to Dance on Stage – Live, on 18 July. This 22-track compilation captures the electric atmosphere of their 2021-22 world tour and features live renditions of career-defining hits such as “ON,” “Fire,” “Dope,” and “IDOL.” However, the upcoming March album is expected to feature entirely new material, potentially exploring the members’ personal growth and experiences during their time away from the stage.

As the industry prepares for what is expected to be the biggest musical event of the year, all eyes remain on Seoul for the official unveiling of the album’s title and concept.
