On 27 July last year, 18-year-old Brazilian striker Endrick stood before 43,000 fans at Santiago Bernabéu, donned in the iconic Real Madrid jersey. The club officially introduced him as one of their players, and the young prodigy, visibly overwhelmed, admitted“I won’t lie… I wasn’t expecting this. So many people!”
At the time, Real Madrid had recognised a dormant volcano of talent within him. Yet, in the white jersey of Real, that fiery potential never fully erupted. Nearly a year and a half later, Endrick has been sent on a temporary move to French club Lyon, seeking the playing time and development he needs.
Lyon have confirmed that Endrick will join them on loan for the remainder of the season. While Real Madrid still regard him as part of their long-term plans, the loan provides the Brazilian with a crucial platform to gain experience.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lyon cannot purchase him permanently after the loan period. Lyon will pay his wages for the duration, and they have also agreed to a €1 million loan fee to Real Madrid.
| Club | Matches | Goals | Notes |
| Palmeiras | 40 | 7 | Transfer fee €4.75m |
| Real Madrid | 40 | 7 | 3 matches this season (2 sub, 1 start) |
| Brazil National Team | 14 | 3 | Needs regular play to impress coach Carlo Ancelotti |
The move is also strategic for Endrick’s international ambitions. To play in the 2026 World Cup, he must return to the Brazil squad, which requires regular competitive action. Unfortunately, at Real Madrid, opportunities were scarce: only three appearances across all competitions this season. Under current coach Xabi Alonso, Endrick has struggled for game time, in contrast to his previous season under Carlo Ancelotti, where he featured in 37 matches (22 in La Liga, 3 starts).
Now at Lyon, Endrick has the chance to reignite his career, play consistently, and regain the attention of Ancelotti, who currently manages the Brazilian national team. This temporary move could prove pivotal in shaping the trajectory of one of Brazil’s most promising young forwards.
