Inquilab Mancha Issues Ultimatum for Swift Judicial Action

The political temperature in Bangladesh has risen sharply following a series of radical demands issued by the Inquilab Mancha, a prominent activist platform. On Sunday night, 28th December, the organisation utilised its official social media channels to announce a new four-point charter of demands. This formal declaration comes as a direct response to the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, an activist whose death has become a rallying cry for those seeking to purge the remaining influences of the previous regime and address foreign interference in domestic affairs.

Central to their list of demands is a stringent timeline for justice. The Inquilab Mancha has demanded that the state complete the judicial process for the entire “killing circle” within a mere 24 days. This mandate is not limited to those who pulled the trigger but extends to the masterminds, facilitators, those who aided in the escape of the accused, and individuals providing sanctuary to the suspects. Such a demand places significant pressure on the interim judiciary to bypass traditional bureaucratic delays and deliver what the group terms “revolutionary justice.”

Beyond the domestic legal sphere, the organisation has pivoted toward a staunchly nationalist and anti-Indian stance. The second and third points of their declaration target the neighbouring nation directly, calling for the immediate cancellation of work permits for all Indian nationals currently residing in Bangladesh. Furthermore, they have urged the government to initiate proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against India, should New Delhi refuse to extradite suspects who have allegedly sought refuge across the border. This escalation reflects a growing sentiment among certain political factions regarding the perceived harbouring of “fascist elements” by foreign powers.

The Four-Point Declaration by Inquilab Mancha

No. Category of Demand Specific Objectives
1 Judicial Deadline Complete trials of all suspects and accomplices within 24 days.
2 Foreign Labour Immediate cancellation of all work permits for Indian nationals.
3 International Law File a case at the International Court if India refuses extradition.
4 Internal Purge Arrest and try “fascist collaborators” within military intelligence.

The final point of the declaration addresses concerns of internal subversion. The Inquilab Mancha has called for a rigorous screening of civil and military intelligence agencies to identify and prosecute what they describe as “remnants of the previous regime.” They argue that hidden collaborators within the state’s security apparatus continue to protect those responsible for the violence against activists. By making these demands public, the Inquilab Mancha has signaled its intent to maintain street pressure on the transitional government until a total “cleansing” of the state and a complete severance of ties with alleged foreign protectors is achieved.
