The price of LPG in the market has risen.

LPG and Autogas Prices See January Hike

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a fresh increase in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas for January, marking another adjustment after fluctuations in recent months. The new rates were officially declared on Sunday, 4 January, and are effective from Sunday evening.

Under the revised pricing, the cost of a standard 12-kilogram LPG cylinder has risen by BDT 53, bringing the total price to BDT 1,306 from the previous BDT 1,253. This adjustment reflects ongoing global and domestic economic factors, including rising international LPG prices and increased distribution costs within Bangladesh.

Updated LPG Cylinder Prices (January 2026):

Cylinder Size New Price (BDT)
12 kg 1,306
12.5 kg 1,360
15 kg 1,633
16 kg 1,742
18 kg 1,959
20 kg 2,176
22 kg 2,395
25 kg 2,721
30 kg 3,265
33 kg 3,592
35 kg 3,809
45 kg 4,898

For households using centrally supplied LPG through reticulated systems, the commission has set the price at BDT 105.08 per kilogram. Reticulated LPG is supplied in liquid form through a network of pipelines to residential buildings, providing a convenient and continuous supply.

In addition to LPG, autogas prices have also risen. The price per litre has increased by BDT 2.48, from BDT 57.32 to BDT 59.80. Autogas is widely used in vehicles and public transport, meaning this rise may have a ripple effect on transportation costs.

Price adjustments have been frequent in the past few months. In December, the 12-kilogram LPG cylinder price increased by BDT 38 to BDT 1,253, while autogas rose by BDT 1.74 to BDT 57.32 per litre. Conversely, in November, LPG prices fell by BDT 26 to BDT 1,215, and autogas dropped by BDT 1.19 to BDT 55.58 per litre.

The BERC emphasises that these price changes are linked to fluctuations in international crude oil and LPG markets, transportation costs, and domestic demand patterns. Consumers are advised to monitor these updates and plan household budgets accordingly. Analysts predict that LPG and autogas prices may continue to fluctuate in line with global energy market trends throughout the year.

This increase underscores the importance of energy-efficient consumption and may encourage households and businesses to explore alternative energy sources where possible.
