Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó-aligned strategist Machado has declared that Venezuela is poised to become the “central hub” for United States energy supply. Speaking on 3 January, Machado described the day as a ‘historic milestone’, marking what he termed the triumph of justice over autocracy following the US-led capture of President Nicolás Maduro.
According to Machado, this dramatic operation not only signals a new era for Venezuela but also represents a global milestone in the defence of freedom and human dignity. “The fall of dictatorship hands a decisive victory to justice,” he asserted, emphasising that the event holds significance far beyond Venezuela’s borders.
Machado outlined his vision for Venezuela’s future, positioning the country as a key ally in securing US energy interests while disrupting the operations of Latin American criminal networks. He promised that an open Venezuelan market combined with the protection of foreign investment would transform the nation into a principal centre for US energy supply.
In addition to economic reforms, Machado stressed his commitment to social reconstruction, highlighting the return of millions of Venezuelan citizens forced into exile. He envisioned a revitalised, resilient nation, strengthened both economically and socially. “If free and fair elections are held, my party is poised to win at least 90% of the vote,” Machado declared, adding that he is ready to return to Venezuela at the earliest opportunity.
From his undisclosed location, Machado has been a vocal critic of the newly appointed interim president, Delsi Rodriguez, whom he labelled as a central figure in “oppression, corruption, and drug trafficking.” While the Trump administration has indicated a willingness to cooperate with Rodriguez, and internal disagreements among US officials continue regarding the election timeline, Machado remains steadfast in his opposition.
The US-led operation last Saturday involved elite Delta Force operatives apprehending Maduro and his wife in Caracas, who are now held at a federal detention facility in Brooklyn, New York. Despite Maduro’s claims of innocence in court, Machado interprets this high-profile removal as a critical step towards establishing democracy in Venezuela.
