A tragic triple-motorcycle collision in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj has resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man and left four others injured. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, 7 January 2026, has once again highlighted the perils of high-speed riding on narrow municipal roads.
The accident took place at approximately 9:00 pm in the “10 Pipe” area near Mizmizi Canal Road. The deceased has been identified as Rayatul Islam Robi, son of Mohammed Faruk, a resident of the Paglabari area within Ward 1 of the city.
According to eyewitness accounts, Robi and his friends were travelling toward Jalkuri at high speed. As they negotiated the Canal Road stretch, their motorcycles collided head-on with another bike carrying a couple and their child, who were travelling in the opposite direction. A third motorcycle, ridden by one of Robi’s companions, was subsequently caught in the wreckage.
Local shopkeeper Milton, who witnessed the lead-up to the crash, noted that the speed of the motorcycles was a significant factor. “The young man who died was riding exceptionally fast, and his friend was close behind him at a similar pace,” Milton observed. “It appeared that due to the excessive velocity, he was unable to maintain control of the vehicle when the other motorcycle appeared from the opposite direction.”
Another witness, Shariful Islam, corroborated the sequence of events, stating that the impact was so severe that Robi died at the scene almost instantly. Two of his companions, identified as Habib and Bijay, sustained significant injuries and were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
