Nabi’s Son Shines,Seeks Fresh BPL Opportunity

Hassan Eisakhil, son of Afghanistan great Mohammad Nabi, has emerged as one of the most talked-about batters of the current Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season after transforming limited opportunities into headline-grabbing performances. Having spent nearly half of the tournament on the bench, Eisakhil finally broke into the Noakhali Express playing XI in Sylhet and made an immediate impact, announcing himself with a commanding innings of 92 from 60 balls in his first appearance. That match was significant not only for his runs but also for history: father and son shared the field together for the first time in professional cricket, creating a rare and memorable moment in the league.

Eisakhil’s breakthrough did not end there. Against Rangpur Riders, the right-hander produced a sensational maiden T20 century, scoring 106 runs from 72 deliveries, decorated with four boundaries and an astonishing 11 sixes. With that effort, he joined an elite group of players who have hit 11 sixes in a single BPL innings, a list previously featuring only Chris Gayle, Tamim Iqbal and Johnson Charles. For a player with limited exposure at this level, the achievement marked a remarkable leap.

Interestingly, Eisakhil insisted that records were far from his mind during the innings. He explained that he never walks out with a fixed target of hitting a certain number of sixes, adding that he was barely aware he had struck 11 in that match. Across just three appearances, he has already showcased notable power-hitting ability, underlining his potential in the shortest format.

Before this tournament, Eisakhil had already registered centuries in first-class and List A cricket, but the Rangpur innings represented his first hundred in T20 cricket. He believes it could prove pivotal for his career and motivation going forward. Keen to extend his journey in the league, he openly expressed his desire to return to the BPL if offered another opportunity.

The century itself was a study in patience and timing. Eisakhil reached his half-century from 50 balls, progressing cautiously during the early overs as stroke rotation proved difficult. However, once settled and sensing a change in conditions, he accelerated dramatically, scoring 57 runs from the next 22 deliveries. His innings lifted Noakhali Express to a total of 173, although it ultimately fell short of securing victory.

Reflecting on his approach, Eisakhil said his plan was simple: play positively, target loose deliveries and adapt as the pitch evolved. After a challenging start, he backed himself to attack once the wicket eased, a decision that paid rich dividends.

With fearless strokeplay and a calm understanding of conditions, Hassan Eisakhil has turned a quiet BPL campaign into a statement of intent. Should another franchise take notice, his wish to return to the league appears well justified.
