Voter centre information now just a click away, says new EC app

In a significant move towards digitising electoral services, the Election Commission (EC) has launched a new mobile application designed to provide voters with comprehensive information about their polling stations. The initiative aims to simplify access to election-related data, making the voting process more transparent and user-friendly.

Using their National Identity (NID) numbers, voters can now check key details such as the name, location, and serial number of their assigned polling station directly on their smartphones. The app, named ‘Smart Election Management BD’, incorporates modern technological features, including geolocation, interactive maps, and detailed station descriptions.

Among the app’s features are:

Full polling station information, including name, address, photographs, and precise location on the map.

The distance from the voter’s current location to the polling station, along with the most convenient route.

Access to the voter’s designated serial number in advance.

Information about all participating political parties, candidates, and their affidavits.

Quick access to election results once voting concludes.

According to Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick, Director of the EC’s Public Relations Division, the app was developed to reduce voter inconvenience and enhance the transparency of the electoral process. “This initiative ensures that voters have all necessary information at their fingertips, eliminating confusion and streamlining their experience at polling stations,” he said.

How to Use the App:

Step Action
1 Download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
2 Install the app and enter your date of birth and NID number.
3 Submit the information to view your polling station name, serial number, and other details.
4 Use the map and distance features to plan your route to the polling station.
5 Access candidate details, party information, and results on the app.

The EC emphasises that this digital platform will not only empower voters with accurate information but also minimise errors, reduce long queues, and ensure a smoother voting experience. With elections being a cornerstone of democracy, such technological advancements are expected to encourage greater voter participation across the country.

This step reflects a broader commitment to modernising electoral processes and integrating technology to serve citizens more effectively. The launch of the Smart Election Management BD app marks a milestone in the Election Commission’s ongoing efforts to make voting more accessible, informed, and convenient for every registered voter.
