Band Six Returns With Musical Film ‘Valobashi’

After a decade-long hiatus, Band Six has made a remarkable return to the music scene. The group first rose to prominence in 2012, when they were crowned champions of the youth rock musician reality show ‘Nescafé Get Set Rock’, earning widespread acclaim for their energetic performances and distinctive sound. This Valentine’s Day, the band has unveiled a special musical film, ‘Valobashi’, which premiered yesterday at 8:00 PM on all major global platforms, including the band’s YouTube channel and Spotify.

The musical film centres on one of the band’s earliest and long-unreleased tracks, with the haunting lyrics:

“Even now, I am here / I want to stay a little longer / To see your blue eyes / I will lose myself.”

Although this song was first played on FM radio over a decade ago, it was never officially released commercially. Following that period, the band’s activities came to a halt, leaving the track in obscurity. Now, for the first time, the song has been reimagined as a full musical film, bringing the emotional story to life on screen.

Band Revival and New Releases

According to Rakibul Romans, the band’s bassist and leader, the cessation of Band Six’s activities in December 2015 also interrupted the production of their second album. “The band was on pause for several years,” he explains, “but last year we decided it was time to return to music.” Guitarist and producer Rezoan Ashraf has been contributing from abroad, and the group plans to release each track from their second album as individual singles.

A Musical Film Rooted in Reality

The song ‘Valobashi’ was written and composed by the band’s drummer Arif Shishir, inspired by a personal story of love and heartbreak. Romans elaborates:

“When we decided to revive the track, we also decided to make a musical film that captures the true events behind it. The story’s protagonist is Arif himself, who plays the lead role in the film. Given his acting experience, he brings authenticity to the portrayal. We chose not to depict negativity; instead, the film highlights the lingering emotional pull between two people, even after they have parted ways.”

The musical film is directed by Shaurin, known for his narrative-driven visual storytelling. Following their recent release of ‘Ei To Shomoy 2’, the track ‘Valobashi’ marks the second release from Band Six’s long-awaited second album. With its blend of real-life storytelling and melodic rock sensibilities, the musical film is poised to captivate audiences this Valentine’s Day and re-establish Band Six as a formidable force in contemporary Bangladeshi music.
