Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Dies During Warrant Operation

In a tragic incident in Thakurgaon’s Pirganj Upazila, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shahidul Islam Shahid lost his life after suffering a sudden heart attack while attempting to apprehend a wanted criminal. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 16 February, in Senuya village, within the Bhomradah Union.

Shahidul Islam was serving at Pirganj Police Station, and his untimely death has sent shockwaves through the local police community. The occurrence was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station, Md. Majharul Islam.

According to the OC, a team of police officers had embarked on a late-night operation to arrest a warrant-listed suspect in Senuya village. During the operation, the team successfully apprehended one individual and began escorting him to the police vehicle. It was at this moment that ASI Shahidul Islam suddenly experienced severe chest pain, indicative of a cardiac event.

Immediate medical attention was provided, and Shahidul Islam was rushed to the Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. Despite the efforts of hospital staff, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The sudden nature of his death has left colleagues and residents deeply saddened.

This incident highlights the intense physical and psychological demands placed on law enforcement personnel, especially during night-time operations and high-risk arrests. Heart-related complications among police officers, though relatively rare, underscore the importance of regular medical check-ups and stress management in such high-pressure roles.
