The eight teams advancing to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup have been confirmed following Wednesday’s thrilling conclusion in Colombo, where Pakistan secured the final spot by defeating Namibia by 102 runs.
These eight teams have now been divided into two groups of four, with Group 1 matches set to be played in India and Group 2 matches in Sri Lanka.
Unlike previous rounds, points from the initial stage will not carry over; all teams start the Super Eight with zero points. Each victory earns a team two points, while a defeat yields none. In the event that a match cannot be completed due to weather or other interruptions, with both sides having played at least five overs each, the game will be declared a “no result” and each team will receive one point.
Should a match end in a tie, a Super Over will determine the winner. If the Super Over also ends in a tie, successive Super Overs will continue until a result is achieved.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, scheduled for 4th and 5th March, while the final is set for 8th March.
