Popular singer Tanjin Mithila is returning to film music after several years away from the medium. She has recorded a new song for the film Filter, adding another film project to a career that has also included original music, television songs and live performances.
The song, titled ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’, has been written by Salahuddin Sagar, with Sajib Khan responsible for its composition and music arrangement. Mithila has recorded the song with fellow singer Monir and completed her part three days ago.
Mithila said she was immediately drawn to the song because of its lyrics and melody. The experience of recording it has also increased her expectations about its reception among listeners and film audiences.
She recalled that those present during the recording session responded positively to the song, with several expressing the view that it could touch listeners emotionally. Mithila said she tried to give the performance her full attention so that the song could create a lasting impression once it reaches audiences.
For the singer, film songs can have a significance that goes beyond their role within a particular production. Some songs remain associated with audiences for many years and become enduring parts of an artist’s musical identity. Mithila hopes ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’ will have a similar journey and is now waiting to see how listeners respond after its release.
Her current schedule extends well beyond the film project. Mithila has already recorded another three or four original songs, although details about their release have not yet been announced. She has also been performing at several stage shows in Dhaka and nearby areas, allowing her to remain active in front of live audiences while continuing her studio work.
Recently, she released another original track, ‘Piriti Piriti’. The song was written by Ashik Mahmud, while Akash Mahmud composed and arranged the music. Mithila also appeared in the accompanying music video, combining her singing with an on-screen performance.
She has also continued to contribute to television productions. Mithila recently lent her voice to ‘Bornomala’, a song from the special television drama Ichchete Je Here Gechhe. Atik Mahmud wrote the lyrics, while Ahsan Jamil Aanchal composed the song. Aanchal also joined Mithila as the other vocalist on the duet. The drama was directed by Sadnan Rony.
Mithila’s work has not been limited to performing songs written by others. Earlier in her career, she released a solo album titled Mon Re under the Laser Vision banner. All the songs on the album were written and composed by Mithila herself, highlighting her abilities as a songwriter and composer as well as a vocalist.
Away from music, Mithila is also planning to spend time with her family. She recently travelled to Nagarpur in Tangail for personal reasons. She is expected to visit her parents in Netrokona before the middle of October, saying that she has not been able to meet them for a considerable period.
With a new film song, several original tracks in the pipeline and a continuing run of stage performances, Mithila remains active across several areas of the music industry. Her latest return to cinema comes with renewed expectations, as she hopes ‘Bujhena Bujhena Mon’ will establish a lasting connection with listeners.
