Bangladesh Condemns Khamenei Assassination Violation

Bangladesh has expressed profound grief over the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that the attack represents a clear violation of international law. In an official statement released on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined that targeting the nation’s top leader in such a manner breaches established global norms and diplomatic protocols.

The announcement follows reports of Khamenei’s death resulting from a joint operation reportedly involving Israel and the United States, which took place on Saturday. On Sunday, Iranian authorities confirmed that the attack had claimed the lives of Khamenei and several senior defence officials.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement emphasised deep solidarity with the grieving Iranian people, describing the incident as a violation of fundamental principles of international conduct. It further stressed that Bangladesh believes no crisis can be resolved through armed conflict; peaceful dialogue and mutual respect, within the framework of international law, remain the only sustainable solutions.

In response to the initial airstrikes, Iran reportedly launched missile attacks targeting U.S. military installations in several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, heightening regional tensions and raising concerns over sovereignty violations. Bangladesh condemned these retaliatory actions as well, reiterating the importance of maintaining international law and respecting national boundaries.

The Foreign Ministry underscored that escalation in the Middle East threatens regional stability and global peace. The Ministry urged all countries in the international community to pursue diplomacy and dialogue to resolve conflicts and prevent further destabilisation in the region.

By highlighting both the attack on Iran and the subsequent retaliatory strikes, Bangladesh calls for a measured and law-abiding approach to international disputes, reiterating that violence can never replace diplomacy.
