Ministry Warns of Fraud Using Officials’ Images

The Ministry of Education has issued a stern warning following reports that a fraudulent network is exploiting the images and names of senior ministry officials to solicit money from the public. The scam involves fake mobile numbers and social media accounts to mislead unsuspecting individuals.

In an official press release issued on Saturday, 7 March, the ministry’s Public Relations Division alerted citizens to this growing concern. The statement emphasised that these deceitful solicitations have no connection with the Ministry of Education, and urged the public to remain vigilant.

“Certain unscrupulous individuals are contacting people using images and names of ministry officials to request funds. These calls and messages are completely unauthorised, and the Ministry has no involvement,” the notice stated.

The Ministry has specifically advised against sharing any personal information or transferring money in response to such messages or calls. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have confirmed that legal action will be pursued against those responsible.

For clearer understanding, the ministry provided the following guidance:

Type of Scam Method Used Official Advisory
Fake phone calls Fraudsters posing as officials Do not provide money or personal information
Social media impersonation Use of official photos and names Verify official communication channels
Message-based solicitation SMS or messaging apps Report suspicious messages to authorities

The ministry further stressed that citizens should only trust official communications issued through its sanctioned channels. Any attempts at soliciting money outside these channels should be considered fraudulent and reported immediately.

This warning comes amid rising concerns over online scams targeting government personnel’s identities, highlighting the need for increased public awareness and vigilance. By proactively alerting the public, the Ministry of Education aims to prevent financial loss and protect both citizens and the integrity of its officials.
