University of Rajshahi Alumni Association Hold Grand Ramadan Reunion

A large gathering of former students of University of Rajshahi Alumni Association took place in the capital on Friday evening, bringing together hundreds of alumni for a reunion and Ramadan breaking-of-the-fast event organised by the Dhaka chapter of the association.

Held on 13 March 2026 at Thai Chi Restaurant, the event drew nearly five hundred alumni from a wide range of professional backgrounds. Participants included academics, public servants, entrepreneurs, journalists, and development professionals who once studied at University of Rajshahi. The gathering created a lively and nostalgic atmosphere as former classmates reunited after many years apart.

The venue, located on the seventh floor of Rangs Bhaban in Bijoy Sarani, became a vibrant meeting place where graduates from different academic batches exchanged memories of campus life. Conversations ranged from recollections of student activities and residential hall life to discussions about current professional engagements and future collaborations among alumni.

The reunion was chaired by organising committee convener M A Mannan, while the programme was conducted by member secretary K M Arifuzzaman. Before the breaking of the fast, a brief discussion session was held in which several distinguished alumni addressed the audience.

Among the speakers were life member of the alumni association and Member of Parliament Anwarul Islam Anu, former vice president of the Rajshahi University Central Students Union Ragib Ahsan Munna, noted organiser Ayub Ali Khan, community leader Bahauddin Bahar, Professor Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, and A B M Zakirul Haq Titon.

In their remarks, the speakers highlighted the spiritual significance of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasising its lessons of self-discipline, compassion, and moral reflection. They also stressed the importance of solidarity among alumni and the potential for such networks to contribute positively to national development.

According to the speakers, alumni gatherings are not merely occasions for reminiscing about university days; they also serve as important platforms for professional networking, mentorship, and collaborative initiatives that can benefit society at large. Many participants echoed this view, noting that the reunion helped revive old friendships while also creating opportunities for younger graduates to connect with experienced professionals.

Organisers stated that the primary aim of the event was to bring together former students in the spirit of Ramadan, fostering goodwill and strengthening connections within the alumni community. They also expressed their intention to organise similar gatherings regularly in order to enhance cooperation among graduates of the university.

Participants warmly welcomed the initiative, describing it as both meaningful and timely. Many remarked that amid demanding professional lives, such reunions provide a rare opportunity to reconnect with old friends and renew a sense of belonging to their alma mater.
