LALMONIRHAT — A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three members of the same family in the Patgram area of Lalmonirhat on Tuesday morning, as they were returning home for the Eid holidays. The victims were riding a motorcycle when they were struck by a truck in the Mirzarkot Model Mosque vicinity.
The deceased have been identified as Shariful Islam (35), his wife, and their young son. The family was originally from Monsapur village, Alihat Union, Hakimpur Upazila, Dinajpur District. Their daughter survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to local sources and police reports, Shariful Islam was employed at a private NGO in Patgram. On Tuesday morning, he set out with his wife, son, and daughter on a motorcycle to return home for the Eid celebrations. While travelling through Mirzarkot, a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with them, killing Shariful Islam, his wife, and son instantly at the scene. The injured daughter was rescued and rushed to hospital.
Patgram police confirmed the incident, though details regarding the truck driver and exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. Authorities are conducting a preliminary assessment and have urged local residents to exercise caution on roads during the holiday period, as traffic congestion and high-speed travel are prevalent.
