The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of potentially severe storms overnight in several districts, accompanied by rain and thunderstorms. According to the latest forecast, areas across ten districts may experience wind speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, 18 March.
The advisory, signed by meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk, states that regions including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, Kushtia, Jessore, Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Comilla, and Sylhet are likely to witness temporary gusty winds from the west or northwest, with speeds ranging from 60 to 80 km/h. Residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant, and river ports have been instructed to hoist a No. 2 marine warning signal.
The Meteorological Department has also forecast continued rainfall or thunderstorms over the coming five days, with occasional hail in certain areas. A day-by-day breakdown of the forecast is as follows:

Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution, especially in low-lying and riverine areas prone to flooding. River transport operators have been specifically instructed to implement safety measures in accordance with the marine warning levels.
The department also highlighted that, while the winds are expected to subside gradually after the night of 18 March, scattered thunderstorms and rainfall are likely to persist intermittently across the country over the next few days. Citizens are urged to stay updated via official meteorological communications and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.
