The domestic gold market in Bangladesh has witnessed another significant downward adjustment as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bangladesh Jewellers Association) announced a fresh reduction in retail prices, reflecting a decline in the cost of pure gold in the local bullion market.
In a statement issued on Friday morning (27 March), the association confirmed that the new rates would take effect from 10:00 am on the same day. According to the revised pricing structure, the price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by BDT 6,590 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new rate to BDT 234,855 per bhori.
The organisation explained that the adjustment was made in line with a fall in the price of fine gold (tejabi sona) in the local market, alongside broader global and domestic market considerations. This marks yet another fluctuation in what has been an unusually volatile year for precious metals in Bangladesh.
| Gold Category | Price per Bhori (BDT) | Change (BDT) |
|---|---|---|
| 22-carat | 234,855 | -6,590 |
| 21-carat | 224,182 | -6,299 |
| 18-carat | 192,164 | -5,366 |
| Traditional | 156,473 | -4,432 |
The latest revision follows closely on the heels of an earlier adjustment made on 25 March, when prices were also reduced across all categories. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold stood at BDT 241,445 per bhori after a reduction of BDT 5,482. Similar downward revisions were applied to other categories, reflecting continued instability in the bullion market.
Market data shows that gold prices in Bangladesh have been revised 47 times so far this year alone. Of these adjustments, prices have increased on 26 occasions while decreasing 21 times. In the preceding year, 2025, a total of 93 price revisions were recorded, with increases dominating at 64 instances compared to 29 reductions.
Despite the decline in gold prices, silver rates remain unchanged in the local market. The current price of 22-carat silver stands at BDT 5,365 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is priced at BDT 5,132. The rates for 18-carat and traditional silver are BDT 4,432 and BDT 3,324 per bhori respectively.
| Silver Category | Price per Bhori (BDT) |
|---|---|
| 22-carat | 5,365 |
| 21-carat | 5,132 |
| 18-carat | 4,432 |
| Traditional | 3,324 |
So far in 2026, silver prices have been adjusted 29 times, with 16 increases and 13 decreases. In 2025, there were 13 revisions in total, the majority of which were upward movements.
Analysts note that the continued volatility in precious metal pricing reflects ongoing fluctuations in international bullion markets, currency valuation pressures, and shifting domestic demand patterns, all of which continue to influence retail pricing decisions in Bangladesh’s jewellery sector.
