A motorcyclist was killed in a tragic road accident in Rangpur city on Sunday morning, when a collision involving a speeding bus brought a sudden end to his life. The deceased has been identified as Juel Hossain (40), a contractor by profession and a resident of the city.
The incident occurred around the morning hours on 19 April near Ideal Mor, a busy junction along the Rangpur–Dinajpur highway. According to police and eyewitness accounts, Juel Hossain was travelling by motorcycle from the Terminal area towards Medical Mor when the accident took place.
Preliminary reports suggest that as he approached Ideal Mor, his motorcycle lost control and struck a road divider. The impact caused him to be thrown across to the opposite side of the road along with his motorcycle. At that moment, a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot.
Locals quickly gathered at the scene following the crash and informed the authorities. Police from the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Station arrived shortly afterwards, recovered the body, and secured the area for investigation. The body was later taken to the police station and, following necessary legal procedures, handed over to the victim’s family.
Family sources stated that Juel Hossain was the son of the late Jahurul Haque of Kellaband area in Rangpur city. Although he was originally from Kellaband, he had been residing in the Shapla Adarshpara locality in recent years. He worked as a contractor and was known within his community for his professional involvement in local construction projects.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Azad Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that initial findings indicate it to be a road traffic accident. He added that further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the collision, including the identity of the bus involved, which fled the scene after the incident.
