Narsingdi PBI confirmed the arrest in an official press release issued on Monday night, 28 September. Investigators apprehended the suspect on Sunday afternoon during a targeted raid in the Gabtali Panditpara area under Palash Upazila. Aporba Chandra Das is the son of Neel Chandra Das, a resident of the same village.

According to the case documentation and PBI officials, the victim’s husband has been working abroad as an expatriate labourer for an extended period. Taking advantage of her husband’s absence and familial proximity, the suspect subjected the woman to repeated sexual violence inside her home under threat. The survivor subsequently became pregnant as a result of the ongoing abuse and gave birth to a daughter on 17 April this year.

Following the birth of the child, intense social complications arose surrounding the infant’s paternity. Facing severe social distress and fearing for the personal safety of both herself and her newborn daughter, the survivor petitioned the local court to seek justice and formal protection.

Upon taking cognizance of the case, the court instructed law enforcement to investigate. Narsingdi PBI initiated a shadow investigation into the allegations. Utilizing advanced information technology and field-level intelligence, a specialized PBI team successfully traced the suspect’s whereabouts and executed the arrest in Gabtali Panditpara.

Following his arrest, police produced Aporba before the magistrate’s court, where he delivered a formal confession under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, admitting his involvement in the crime. PBI officers confirmed that full forensic and investigative procedures, including necessary DNA testing protocols, remain ongoing to complete the charge sheet.
