Elderly Man Faces Rape Allegation

An allegation of sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl with disabilities has been reported from Garpara Union in Manikganj Sadar Upazila, prompting concern among local residents and police attention.

According to local accounts, the incident is alleged to have taken place on Wednesday afternoon, 22 April, inside the victim’s home in the village of Panjonkhara. The accused has been identified as Habez Uddin, aged 60, son of the late Moyur Ali of the same village.

Reports suggest that at the time of the alleged incident, the victim’s parents were not at home. Her mother had gone to collect fodder for livestock, while her father was away working as a rickshaw puller. It is alleged that during this period, the accused entered the house when it was unattended.

Family members claim that the accused forcibly assaulted the girl. The victim’s mother reportedly returned home shortly afterwards and saw the accused leaving the premises in haste. Upon entering the house, she found her daughter in a distressed condition on the floor. The family subsequently raised alarm and sought immediate medical assistance.

The girl was admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Medical staff have stated that her condition is being closely monitored. Further clinical assessment is ongoing.

The incident has triggered concern within the local community, with residents expressing distress and calling for a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action. Community members have also emphasised the need for stronger protective measures for vulnerable individuals, particularly minors with disabilities.

The Officer-in-Charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station stated that preliminary inquiries are underway. He further noted that necessary legal steps will be taken once a formal complaint is received or the allegation is substantiated through investigation.
